In 2022, Art4Giving made a donation to Ex-Cons for Community and Social Change (ECCSC). This non-profit’s mission is to provides dedicated community servants trained to change the dynamic of trauma, violence, and recidivism in communities. ECCSC challenges ex-offenders to act as community servants by continuing their rehabilitation through community service and becoming productive members of society.

ECCSC offers multiple evidence-based programs, including violence prevention, recidivism prevention, social services, life skills, and youth mentorship.

As part of violence reduction, this donation will directly support ECCSC’s project to rent buses and transport inner-city Chicago kids to other parts of town so they can visit and experience life outside of the neighborhoods they grew up in.

Tyrone Muhammad, ECCSC founder and Executive Director, spent 20 years in prison. He saw first-hand how incarceration affects individuals, families, and communities. While in prison, he taught several self-development programs aimed at reducing recidivism, and helped incarcerated men get educational degrees. After his release, he founded ECCSC as he believes ex-offenders play a key role in reducing crime in inner-city neighborhoods.
